accomodation at Limousin Cottage
A bit about the house

Inside it’s cool and roomy, beautifully restored with traditional tiled floors, large beams and chestnut panelling. It’s furnished with an eclectic mixture of family heirlooms and charming furniture found at the local brocantes! It’s fully equipped with essentials such a dishwasher, washing machine, coffee machine and WiFi.

Unfortunately the house is not suitable for small children.

There are 4 large bedrooms upstairs and a single downstairs. 2 bathrooms, 1 upstairs and 1 down. There’s a beautiful sunny dining room overlooking the garden featuring the original old barn doors, a large salon with magnificent fireplace, and a smallish but ample kitchen and pantry.

Outside there’s a large fenced garden leading through to the orchard with view across to the old Ruines of Chateau de Brosse and beyond.

We don’t have a swimming pool as the upkeep would be too much, but we do have a beautiful lake where we swim just nearby in Chaillac.

The front door leads straight into The Salon with a large open fireplace, 3 comfortable sofas, a TV, and a small dining table and chairs.

Leading off the Salon is the kitchen and pantry. It’s not huge, but there’s a range cooker, a rather old fridge, butler sink, small dresser housing crockery, glasses, cutlery pots and pans etc. You’ll also find the dishwasher and microwave in the pantry.

The dining room is one of the nicest rooms in the house! It features the old barn doors that open onto the garden. The table can easily seat 8 people.

The dining room also leads to another hallway off which is a handy single bedroom (for those who are not good on stairs). This single room can also be accessed from the salon.

Across the hallway is the downstairs bathroom and loo, featuring the biggest and deepest roll top bath! The bathroom leads onto a utility room with washing machine.

There are 2 staircases in the house, it’s a bit quirky! The front staircase between the salon and the dining room takes you up to 2 large bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with a king size bed, and a shower room with a ridiculously low height door (there is a story behind why that is...)

From the back staircase you will find 2 more large bedrooms, both with lovely old brass king sized beds.

Outside

The house faces south and has a wonderful large terrace which really helps for much needed shade in the summer months. There’s a hammock for having a siesta in after lunch zzz

The garden is kept as well as we can keep it. We have someone who comes in to cut the grass and keep it under control. The orchard is often left as a meadow in the summer months, with wide paths cut leading to a large shed at the bottom of the plot. housing garden equipment and a rather archaic ping pong table... if you want to get it out and push it up the garden!
